Workforce Age by Industry



Employment survey data indicates groups of public sector workers tend to be older than the workforce as a whole. In 2012, the median age for all workers employed nationwide was 42.3 years.

The following data shows 2012 annual estimates of ages for employed persons, by industry. For industries grouped together, the most detailed-level industry is shown.
