Health & Human Services Summit 2016

Oct 31, 2016 - Nov 1, 2016
Arlington, VA

Overview

Our Biggest Challenges, Our Smartest Solutions

The nation’s health and human services priorities are being reshaped by multiple forces: population trends and demographic shifts, new health threats and rapidly evolving technologies, emerging policy approaches and changing regulatory requirements. Those forces present some of the biggest, most urgent challenges for states and localities, but they’re also giving rise to some of the smartest, most transformative innovations in government. Advances in systems integration, information sharing, and data analytics – and the technologies that make them possible – are empowering HHS leaders and providers to improve services. However, these are also the forces that continue driving costs in the largest spending category for state governments and pose some of the biggest challenges to state and local governments.

This Year’s Topics may include:

I. Emerging demographic and health issues will demand political and policy attention
II. Growing use of data sharing, data management, data analytics and data visualization
III. Aging HHS technology systems will need to be replaced
IV. Federal funding for Medicaid expansion will begin to phase down in 2017. What’s the impact?
IV. Cybersecurity, privacy and regulatory compliance will continue to be top priorities for HHS officials
