Governing Leadership Forum: Texas 2016

May 19, 2016
Austin, TX

Overview

Governing returns to Austin for the sixth annual Texas Governing Leadership Forum set for May 19, 2016. The Lone Star State is a national leader in job growth and economic diversification, yet faces challenges that come with prosperity and uncertainty. Nearly 600 new residents call Texas home each day, testing state and local leaders to find solutions to infrastructure financing, labor supply, and educational disparities. Public sector retirements, technology investments, and citizen engagement bring new opportunities for government transformation. Texans are resilient and their citizens are ready for a future of lively debate followed by innovative solutions.

Governing will invite leaders from state and local government to share their successes and inspire action by every attendee. Plenary sessions will include inspirational speakers with an eye on the future. Concurrent sessions will explore today’s current public policy issues and make recommendations to secure a dynamic future in Texas.

This year’s topics include:

  • The Texas Economy: Prosperity, Diversity and Uncertainty
  • Financing Critical Infrastructure: Long-term Solutions to Serve a Fast-Growing Population
  • Hiring and Retaining Great Employees in the Public Sector
  • Data: An Essential Tool for Problem-Solving
  • Innovation in Government: Executing Great Ideas
  • Healthy Populations: Serving the Citizens of the Lone Star State
  • Government Disrupted: A Digital Public Demands Digital Public Services
