Director of Audit and Performance, City of Indianapolis-Marion County
Indianapolis, Indiana, more than any city in America, has embraced the seven Equipt to Innovate outcome elements as the preferred “model to drive the City of Indianapolis to high performance and innovation throughout government.” Since being appointed to the position in 2016 by Mayor Joe Hogsett, Hope Tribble has used her role as Director of Audit and Performance to evaluate city-county operations and conduct an enterprise-wide culture assessment.
Under Tribble’s leadership, Indianapolis has engaged all employees of the city through a new survey that benchmarks the city’s strengths and weaknesses using the Equipt elements as the ultimate north star. She is driving a leadership focus to optimize the sharing and use of data across departments, establishing performance management dashboards and increased program evaluation rigor, and implementing greater budget discipline around city goals.
Tribble has an extensive background in public finance, having worked on fiscal policy at the local, state and federal levels. Tribble also served in leadership roles at a variety of governmental and nonprofit institutions, and in her own small business, which advised other businesses and nonprofits on operational and financial procedures.
Indianapolis also participated in the 2017 Equipt to Innovate national survey, and will now be able to benchmark the city’s progress on the Equipt elements compared with cities across the United States.
