Master of Public Administration Program
School of Government, Campus Box 3330
The Master of Public Administration program at the School of Government at UNC-Chapel Hill educates leaders for local, state, and federal governments, nonprofit organizations, and organizations that serve the public good. The program attracts individuals who will take on public leadership roles, find innovative as well as pragmatic solutions to urgent challenges, and inspire others to create lasting and positive change in their communities and organizations. The UNC MPA program derives part of its strength from the School of Government’s unique position as the nation’s largest university-based resource for local governments. Each year, faculty members field thousands of inquiries from public officials, consult on government operations and state legislation, and—informed by this ongoing practical engagement—produce publications that advance the field of public administration.
The UNC Master of Public Administration program also offers an online MPA degree program designed for working professionals and others seeking to advance their careers in public service while retaining the freedom and flexibility to honor their current commitments. MPA@UNC follows the same curriculum as the residential program, and students meet the same admissions criteria. To accommodate students who live in different time zones, the courses include both self-paced material and live sessions held at pre-arranged times.
