Google has released its annual "zeitgeist" numbers, tallying the top Internet searches for the past year. (Congrats, "michael jackson" and "acai berry"!!)
Anyway, this year, the search engine also broke out the top Google searches by city.
I'm not entirely sure how illustrative it is -- there are a LOT of movie theaters and schools being searched. And even for my city of Washington, D.C., I'd never even heard of the number-one searched item for 2009 ("fcps blackboard," which is apparently the distance-learning site for Fairfax County public schools).
But it's still sort of interesting to see how search terms differ from place to place. Anybody up for MEZ restaurant in Charlotte, NC?
