Stick a Fork Time?

Fletcherfork If you're following gubernatorial politics at all this year, you know that Ernie Fletcher is in trouble. We'll have an item about this in the March issue of Governing, but the shorthand version is that the Kentucky Republican has been bedeviled by scandal and now has serious primary opposition. Many party leaders are endorsing his opponent, former Congresswoman Anne Northup.

Including, as of yesterday, Steve Pence. That's the state's lieutenant governor. The guy who was elected as part of Fletcher's ticket four years ago.

About

Written and compiled by staff writers and editors, GOVERNING View is an on-the-ground, and sometimes behind-the-scenes, look at the topics we're covering in print and online. From notes on what's up in statehouses, county courthouses and city halls, to encounters with people, places and things, GOVERNING View is a window into the side of state and local government you don't always see.
