In the current issue of Governing, my colleague Jonathan Walters relates how some governments are trying to package performance reports (which, he notes, typically "have all the charm of a car battery") in a way that will generate more public interest.
Along the same lines, USA Today has an article about the just-released The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation . The author/illustrator team, two veterans of Marvel and Harvey comics, have produced a visual version of the 568-page investigative report issued two years ago by the federal 9/11 Commission.
Although the commission wasn't involved in the project, according to the article its leaders, former New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean and former Congressman Lee Hamilton of Indiana, wrote the forward, commending "the talented graphic artists of this edition for their close adherence to the findings, recommendations, spirit and tone of the original commission report."
