Pentium 386 anyone?

Imagine the shock. Obama's technological whiz kids arrive at the White House only to find Stone Age software in the vaunted West Wing. The horror!

As the Washington Post explains, the social networking crowd is left with no Facebook, no instant messaging, no technology life-blood. Get the smelling salts!

We've all been there. Go to grandma's house for the weekend and find the ol' computer chuggin' by steam engine, if there's a computer at all. But at grandma's house, all ya gotta do is eat and socialize...um...in person. Imagine if you had to solve the nation's problems on her machinery.

We wish them luck getting up to speed.

About

Written and compiled by staff writers and editors, GOVERNING View is an on-the-ground, and sometimes behind-the-scenes, look at the topics we're covering in print and online. From notes on what's up in statehouses, county courthouses and city halls, to encounters with people, places and things, GOVERNING View is a window into the side of state and local government you don't always see.
