He was too sexy for his shirt. He was too sexy for your party. He was too sexy for Milan, New York and Japan. But is the lead singer of Right Said Fred too sexy to be mayor of London?
We'll see. Richard Fairbrass, whose 1991 hit song you are now doomed to have in your head all day, says he's in the 2008 race. Too Sexy tells British tabloid the Sun that he's inspired by none other than Kinky Friedman, the country singer whose recent bid for Texas governor proved that washed-up musicians, if they work at it, can finish fourth in an election.
The Brit-popper complains that the current mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, has "lost the plot." Specifically, Fairbrass says he's too sexy for Livingstone's congestion charge, the toll that drivers pay to take their cars into central London. He's also too sexy for Livingstone's smoking ban. Yet another politician pandering to the smoker-driver-clubber vote.
But seriously, with this as a campaign commercial, Too Sexy will be tough to beat.
