Fried Coke Is More It Than Ever
The fried Coca-Cola craze is on. According to the Dallas Morning News, two more states--Arizona and North Carolina--are joining Texas in serving fried Coke at their state fairs.
Furthermore, in a sign of the innovation that is fluorishing in the fried soft drink space, a Texas fairgoer is quoted as saying that fried Dr. Pepper would also be a good idea. Would it ever!
But not so fast. Commenters on my favorable review and video of Texas Fried Coke had some concerns. One worried that turning a caloric sugar drink into something fatty as well would worsen the obesity epidemic. Another worried that the thought of Fried Coke, and I am paraphrasing here, would make her puke.
This is why I propose another innovation. Can you say Fried Diet Coke? Fried Diet Dr. Pepper? Before you scoff, consider that such oxymoronic guiltlessness is a already a staple of American consumer culture. Consider: fat free potato chips. And: organic cigarettes. Yes, we can fry our soft drinks and eat them too! Bon appetit!
