Kansas is putting an end to child brides -- kinda. The state passed a minimum age requirement for marriage. Previously, Kansas didn't have a minimum age standard in cases where a girl had her parents' consent to get married.

But here's the thing: The new minimum age is 15. Yes, you'd have to have parental consent, and, yes, a judge would have to decide it's in the best interest of the couple to get married. But still, 15! (Kansas isn't alone here, but 15 is still on the young side.)

Maybe I'm nuts or really naive, but since when is a 15-year-old NOT a child?
