Blogging the Management Conference: The One-Page Wonder

I had a really interesting conversation here with the guy in charge of Indiana's state government Web site. We were chatting before a conference session, and I asked him what he's working on.

He told me that Indiana is poised to become the first state in the country with a single, unified design for every page of every agency. In Indiana's case, that means consolidating the Web pages of 75 different agencies (meaning more that 75 individual template designs).

It sounds like such a no-brainer.  I mean, can you imagine logging onto your bank's Web site, and each time you go to a different page, it looks completely different?  Different colors, fonts, menu options -- even a different location of the search box?

Lots of places are guilty of this -- Governing is too. But it's good to know that Indiana's on the job.
