Napoleon_background_full_1 It's rare that a state fair can be described as freakin ' sweet.

But the Utah State Fair, which kicks off today, tapped a popular offbeat loser to be the mascot for the state's 150th annual fair. Napoleon Dynamite, the 2004 movie character who became a cult favorite, is appearing on billboards and in TV and radio ads to promote this year's fair, whose theme is "All Your Wildest Dreams Will Come True."

Apparently the campaign is working very well, and has gotten a lot of attention.

You can download the TV and radio ads here, by clicking on "Napoleon's Sweet Ads." Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a liger-judging competition.
