A Compelling Subject

Jerry Seinfeld got some laughs at the Oscars a couple weeks ago in giving out "best documentary" and announcing "the five extremely depressing films that are nominated for this award."

But how does this one sound -- a three-and-a-half hour documentary about the 2004 session of the Idaho legislature?

Well, this is Governing. So maybe someone cares.

Frederick Wiseman is known for his in-depth looks at important public institutions (hospitals, high schools, etc.), so his film State Legislature will be worth watching when it airs on PBS sometime later this year. It got good reviews at the Berlin Film Festival last month.
