Why the Bushies Don't Like Rick Perry

The Texas Tribune has a good story looking at all of the possible reasons that most people from the Bush inner circle, including George H.W. Bush himself, are backing Kay Bailey Hutchison's primary challenge to Gov. Rick Perry. It's a good story, but the reporter who wrote it makes it sound as though it could have been even better:

Nearly every one of the two dozen sources contacted for this story refused to be quoted by name; several of those who went on the record saved their best material for after they went back off.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
