Well, That Makes More Sense

Everyone I've talked to about why Bev Perdue was able to prevail in the North Carolina governor's race has pointed to the organization and door-knocking done in the state by Obama's people.

That didn't seem to gibe with the numbers, which have shown Perdue running ahead of Obama. If she were so dependent on him, why would she have out-run him?

Well, the latest numbers show that their vote totals are almost identical, with Obama running about 3000 votes ahead of Perdue.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
