I've droned on quite enough about which governors might be tapped as running mates. So, instead of saying any more, here are a few thoughtful comments from readers. Feel free to speak up for your favorite governor too.
Matt on Brian Schweitzer:
Of course, Schweitzer's biggest worry would be joining the national ticket and then seeing it lose. Obama can't seem to get more than a slight edge over his bumbling opponent's incompetent operation. He would go from a slam dunk reelection to unemployment. So I can see why he wouldn't be wild about the idea. But like a lot of veep contenders have said -- they don't want the job, but if asked, they would run. I suspect Schweitzer would see the wisdom of that.
Island Girl defends Sarah Palin:
Our governor can distinguish between Tlingits, Haidas, Tsimshians, Athabaskans, Aleuts, Yupiks and Inupiaqs. I suspect she would have no probem with Shiites and Sunnis.
Larry McD comments on Kathleen Sebelius:
Another point on the downside, Gov.Sebelius's appearance on national TV rebutting the State of the Union was a major snoozer that gave no indication she'd be capable taking on the Republican nominee...
cargocult discusses Joe Manchin:
not that i think Manchin belongs in the top tier of consideration, but he really could deliver WV (and help with the 'Mountain East' including Eastern OH). and its hard to envision a scenario where Obama winning WV and losing the national election.
and although Manchin is contrarian on a few issues...hes a team player and a populist and could be a decent weak VP in the (gulp) Quayle mold.
