Pawlenty of Nothing

Pawlenty_mccain_2 Josh has been skeptical about Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty's prospects as a McCain running mate, despite the governor's early support for the Arizona senator and good buzz in other parts of the blogosphere.

A new poll suggests that Josh may be right:

A Rasmussen Reports poll released today found that if Pawlenty is selected as McCain's running mate, 30 percent of Minnesota voters would be more likely to vote for the Republican ticket, while 35 percent would be less likely to do so. The other 32 percent said it would have no impact.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
