Council members in Montgomery County, Maryland, have set the dates for a special election to fill the seat vacated by the death of their colleague, Marilyn Praisner. The primary will be April 15 and the general election is on May 13. Hours after their decision, County Board of Education President Nancy Navarro announced her candidacy on the Democratic side.
In neighboring Prince George's County, primary voting will take place on April 1 and general election voting on May 6 to fill the council seat vacated by Donald Harrington. Harrington was picked by the county Democratic Central Committee to fill a state Senate seat left vacant by the death last month of Gwendolyn Britt.
