E-mail: mailbox@governing.com If you don't know, don't fret. Kansans don't know who Mark Parkinson is either, as the governor explained in a delightful blog post this week:
Last week, we decided to order pizza to Cedar Crest. I called the pizza place and you know the drill. They ask your name, address, phone number and then your order. I gave them my name and then for address, I decided to give them the actual street address and not say "Governor's Mansion." I just thought that sounded too pretentious.
They look up the address in their computer and for some reason it doesn't show up. And then I tell them that it's Cedar Crest, where the Governor lives. The person paused and then asked if it was a prank. And I told them no, it really was where the Governor lives and we just wanted pizza. Then, he asked if I worked for the Governor and how could I prove that this wasn't a prank.
That's when I told him that I was the Governor! I told him not to worry about it, lots of people didn't know the Kansas Governor by name, and we got our pizza.

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
