History in New Hampshire

The Thicket reports another historic first:

The New Hampshire Senate has become the first legislative chamber ever to have a majority of women members.  Thirteen of the 24 members of the Senate are women.

By the way, Democrats retained both houses of the New Hampshire legislature, although Republicans gained some seats in the House of Representatives. Democrats made massive gains in New Hampshire in 2006 and were able to hold most of what they had won.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
