Granholm to Energy?

More state and local officials joining the Obama caravan to Washington, according to The Wall Street Journal:

WASHINGTON -- Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Nancy Sutley is to be named the chairwoman of president-elect Barack Obama's Council on Environmental Quality, according to two senior Democratic aides.

Meanwhile, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is a leading candidate for energy secretary, though no decision has been made, two other people close to the situation said. Those senior Democratic aides also said former Environmental Protection Agency administrator Carol Browner was to be tapped as the special energy czar.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
