We could know very soon whether former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes, a Democrat, will attempt a comeback bid. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Jim Galloway has the scoop:

We've been told by several relatively well-informed people that former Gov. Roy Barnes has settled on Wednesday as the day he'll fish or cut bait in the 2010 race.

So far, no one feels comfortable enough to predict which way the Democrat will jump -- whether he'll attempt the first comeback by an ousted Georgia governor since Gene Talmadge. (Several -- including Lester Maddox and Carl Sanders -- have attempted returns after constitutionally limited terms.)
