Fundraising Sessions
Like many other states, Maryland bans legislators from fundraising during regular sessions. However, they're free to pass the hat during special sessions, a loophole many took advantage of during last November's special.
Goo-goo groups are now pushing for a stricter ban:
Del. Saqib Ali (D-Montgomery) introduced the bill in response to concerns that many lawmakers -- including himself -- raised money during the legislature's November special session.
