Douglas Makes the Rounds

Vermont_roadsign_3 Vermont Republican Gov. James Douglas kicked off his campaign against House Speaker Gaye Symington yesterday by beginning an "every county counts" tour of all 14 Vermont counties. Douglas has already gotten around the small state pretty good, reports PolitickerVT.com.

"Jim Douglas has personally and virtually met every person in the state," said Kevin Ellis, partner of the public affairs firm and lobby group Kimbell Sherman Ellis. "Even if you disagree with his policies, he has come to your child's school and that is an enormous obstacle for Symington to surmount."

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
