DeWeese Locked in Tight Race

Bill DeWeese, leader of the House Democrats in Pennsylvania, is locked in a tight race, AP reports. DeWeese is up 52-48 over Republican Greg Hopkins, with more than 75 percent of the vote in.

In another race involving a chamber leader, Dan Surra is trailing his Republican opponent.

DeWeese has been widely criticized in the "Bonusgate" scandal, in which 12 legislators or staff have been indicted.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
