Daniels Back on Top

Survey USA has a new poll out today showing Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels with a 53-37 polling lead over Democrat Jill Long Thompson. This is a much healthier lead from the incumbent than the Indianapolis Star poll of Sept. 19, which showed Daniels with just a four-point lead.

But it's in keeping with other relatively recent polls that showed Daniels above 50 percent and holding double-digit leads.

The same pollster shows John McCain leading Barack Obama by only three points, 48-45, in Indiana. The Republican National Committee has been pouring substantial resources into the traditionally GOP state.

About

GOVERNING Politics is the place for news and analysis on campaigns and elections. If there's a ballot measure in California, a legislative election in Alabama, a mayoral election in Anchorage or a governor's race in Rhode Island, GOVERNING Politics probably is writing about it. We love everything about state and local politics, from polls and campaign ads to policy debates and demographic trends.
