Cyber security, promoting clean and diverse energy resources, and broadband expansion are just a few of the topics set for discussion at the 125th Annual National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Meeting next month. The Nov. 17-20 meeting, held at the Hilton Bonnet Creek hotel in Orlando, will feature a number of federal, State, consumer, and industry leaders. Acting Federal Communications Commission Chair Mignon Clyburn will deliver a keynote address on Monday, Nov. 18. Other keynote speakers include American Wind Energy Association CEO Tom Kiernan, who will discuss the future of renewable energy development, and Trend Micro Threat Researcher Kyle Wilhoit, who will detail his findings on utility cyber security. Topics under discussion include rebuilding water infrastructure after emergencies, energy market oversight, telecommunications and electricity interdependencies, E-Rate 2.0, and much more. A complete agenda is available online: In addition, NARUC members will elect a new slate of officers for 2013-2014. Current NARUC President Philip Jones of Washington’s term will expire, and NARUC First Vice President Colette Honorable of Arkansas is expected to be nominated as president. If elected, her term will begin at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting. Moreover, the meeting is the first milestone in NARUC’s 125th anniversary celebration. The anniversary will be recognized throughout the year until November 2014.
