Dedicated to Transformation



Given the day-to-day demands of political leadership, it is hard to focus on innovation. In his article, John O'Leary highlights how the city of Detroit and the state of Indiana used similar strategies to spearhead significant change initiatives. Both used dedicated teams, one internal one external, devoted 100% to reviewing operations across the board.



 


Stephen Goldsmith is a professor of government at the Harvard Kennedy School. He was formerly the two-term mayor of Indianapolis and deputy mayor for operations for New York City.
