Sharon Wrona, the immediate past president of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing, is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the acute pain and multidisciplinary chronic pain clinic at Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She is the director of the hospital's Comprehensive Pain and Palliative Care Services and has worked worked with the hospital's Opioid Safety Task Force for the past three years.

Wrona is board-certifed in pain management nursing, pediatric psychiatric mental health and advanced-practice pain-management nursing. She graduated from the Mount Carmel College of Nursing in 2000, completed her master's degree and pediatric nurse practitioner studies at Wright State University in 2003 and her doctorate of nursing practice and psychiatric nurse practitioner studies at Ohio State University in 2015.

Oregon's move to end Medicaid coverage of the drugs for many chronic-pain patients is a bad idea. Let's hope it doesn't spread.
