Michael Podgursky

Michael Podgursky is a professor of economics at the University of Missouri at Columbia and formerly a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was associate director of the Massachusetts Institute for Social and Economic Research. He was a George W. Bush Institute Fellow from 2010 to 2013.

Podgursky serves on the board of directors of the Missouri Public Charter School Association and on the advisory boards of the National Center for Teacher Quality and the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence. He also is a member of the editorial boards of the Peabody Journal of Education, Education Finance and Policy, and Elementary School Journal.

Podgursky is the co-author, with Dale Ballou, of the 1997 book Teacher Pay and Teacher Quality, as well as numerous journal articles. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia and his and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
