Janis Bowdler is a managing director for global philanthropy for JPMorgan Chase & Co. Under her leadership, the firm invests more than $80 million each year to advance strategies that connect distressed communities and underserved individuals and entrepreneurs with the tools, resources and opportunities to prosper.

Before joining JPMorgan Chase, Bowdler served as the director of economic policy for the national council of La Raza, the largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. She also served as a project manager at the Famicos Foundation, a community-development corporation working in Cleveland's Hough and Glenville neighborhoods.

Bowdler received her bachelor's degree from Malone College in Canton, Ohio, and her master of science degree from Cleveland State University.
